Can colleagues be friends?
I have got a good
opportunity to write on this lines..I am so grateful to ascent, through which
today I am representing my thought on Emotional Quotient and Interpersonal
Relationship at workplace. I have completed my Masters in Human Resource but
moreover I am interested in knowing Individual Personality Traits, Their Values
and the reason behind their different behaviors at workplace.
Colleagues and Friend; these
words has their different definitions, collegue is a person with whom one works in a profession or
business and a Friend is a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection,
typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations.
Now if we combine both these definition we can
draw the new definition which probably could be like this,” A Person with whom one works
in a profession with whom one has a bond of mutual affection to carry out the
individual goal as well as company objectives”
So if this particular definition could
understand by individuals at workplace it would be so much productive situation
for Employer.
I have been always on a focus of creating
Informal structure of working with Systematic planning, yes it would be quite
strange and seems impossible to carry out but it is yet too much effective in
the companies where team work is focused.
Interpersonal relationships among the colleagues’
plays and important role in developing friendly environment at work place,
which intern help employees to work freely and also this gives good boost to
their moral. We, as a human are surrounded by multiple types of stress,
resulting in our lower productivity we offer to organization. If the company
culture doesn’t support the friendly atmosphere, people may not able to
concentrate on the task they are offred.The good relationships often lower the
stress employees carrying with themselves, either by sharing or by diverting
the mind.
The other scenario if we focus upon is of
“Learning”- it’s a human tendency that we learn from the people we admire.
Learning is the process which involves willingness as well as likelihood.
Nobody is perfect at workplace each needs development, but people only learn
where their likening matches and even they get a friendly atmosphere of
gathering knowledge. As a developmental part, as learning part and as a good
cultural part, a colleague should develop friendly relationships with eachother,
simply so that knowledge sharing could be made more easy !!!
